The Cubs agreed to a one-year, $2.8 million contract with right-handed reliever Brad Boxberger on Thursday, according to a source.
The club has not confirmed the deal.
Boxberger, 34, is coming off a 2022 campaign in which he appeared in 70 games out of the Brewers’ bullpen, going 4-3 with a 2.95 ERA across 64 innings while striking out 68 and walking 27. Over 11 big league seasons with six teams, Boxberger has a 31-37 record with a 3.44 ERA and 82 saves in 484 games — all in relief.
In 2015 while with the Rays, Boxberger led the AL in saves with 41.
