The Mets are finalizing a deal with veteran outfielder Tommy Pham, according to MLB Network insider Jon Heyman.
The club has not confirmed the deal, which was first reported by SNY’s Andy Martino.
Pham, who turns 35 in March, slashed .236/.312/.374 over 144 games between the Reds and Red Sox last season. He has a .696 OPS over the last three seasons after posting an .844 OPS from 2014-19 with the Cardinals and Rays.
Despite his recent struggles, Pham has turned in a pair of 20-20 seasons, including one in 2019 when he hit 21 homers and stole 25 bases for Tampa Bay. The other came in ’17, when he racked up 23 home runs and 25 stolen bases for St. Louis.
Pham figures to provide additional depth to a Mets outfield that features Mark Canha in left, Brandon Nimmo in center and Starling Marte in right.
