As a left-handed slugger with impressive plate discipline, Dodgers infield prospect Michael Busch has drawn comparisons to Max Muncy, so it’s only fitting that with Muncy heading to the paternity list, L.A. is calling up its No. 3 prospect to replace him, as sources told MLB.com’s Juan Toribio on Monday. The team has not announced the transaction.
Busch, whom MLB Pipeline ranks as the No. 48 overall prospect, is hitting .337 with two homers and a .967 OPS in 21 games with Triple-A Oklahoma City. With Muncy set to miss a maximum of three games on the paternity list, the Dodgers are hoping Busch can help fill the power gap in the lineup, as Muncy leads the Majors with 11 home runs.
The Dodger open up a three-game series in Pittsburgh on Tuesday after an off-day on Monday.
