A viral Facebook post helped a longtime Minute Maid Park worker find his Houston Astros World Series ring after misplacing it at Sunday’s game.
Janie Arredondo posted on Facebook on June 18 saying her friend’s dad, Reynaldo Muñoz, had lost his 2022 World Series ring while working the Astros’ Father’s Day game.
The post said Muñoz took the ring off to wash his hands when he was then called for assistance.
Muñoz soon realized his ring was missing, but it was gone when he went back to look for it.
“He has worked for 23 years at MMP and this ring meant so much to him. The ring is very unique as it is personalized to every employee,” the post read. “We hope whoever has it will return it. It is one of his joys from working there for many years.”
Arredondo’s Facebook message was shared 6,000 times, and on Monday she posted an update that someone had come forward with the ring.
“HOUSTON IS AMAZING! Because of the shares someone has come forward! Details to come! We will update as soon as he has his ring back!” Arredondo said.
World Series rings are made specifically for the champion players, but teams can also decide to give them to employees and staff.
According to Fox 26, Muñoz has nearly never called out of work and was in attendance at Game 4 of the 2022 World Series in Philadelphia when the Astros tied the series.
The Astros and their fans hope the return of Munoz’s ring is a harbinger of good things, as the team has dropped five straight, including Monday’s series opener against the Mets.
