Byron Buxton hits two home runs over 460 feet

by admin

Byron Buxton is no stranger to hitting monster homers, but what he did on Thursday against the Red Sox was new even for him. With a pair of massive home runs at Target Field, Buxton became the first player in the Statcast Era (since 2015) to hit multiple 460-plus-foot home runs in the same game.

Buxton’s first megablast came in the first inning off Justin Garza, a 466-foot solo shot down the left-field line that rocketed off the bat at 112.2 mph. Homer No. 2 was just as impressive, soaring 465 feet to left-center field in the third inning off Red Sox rookie Brandon Walter with a 111.9 mph exit velocity.

Before Thursday, only four players had even hit multiple 450-plus foot homers in a game before: Austin Riley (May 25, 2023), Willson Contreras (Sept. 13, 2019), Charlie Blackmon (May 12, 2019) and Trevor Story (Sept. 5, 2018).
