Brotherly love is going to take on a whole new meaning for a pair of brothers on Friday night.
The D-backs on Friday called up Dominic Fletcher, Arizona’s No. 14 prospect according to MLB Pipeline. Making the promotion even more special is that Dominic is the brother of David Fletcher, which means the two brothers will face off against one another in Anaheim on Friday.
Dominic, the younger of the two brothers, already made his MLB debut earlier this year, but his latest promotion holds special meaning with the matchup against his elder brother. The two both represented Team Italy in the World Baseball Classic earlier this year.
The timing of this promotion and matchup adds even more emotion to the equation, as the Fletchers tragically lost their father less than three weeks ago.
Sometimes, baseball is more than just a game. That will certainly be the case for the Fletcher brothers at Angel Stadium on Friday as they face off in what will likely be a moving experience.
