For a second straight start, Luis Severino was roughed up.
The right-hander was removed with two outs in the third inning and ended up giving up seven runs to the Orioles.
The right-hander, who was pounded by the Cardinals for nine hits and nine runs — seven earned — in just four innings in his previous outing in St. Louis, was just as ineffective on Thursday in The Bronx.
The Orioles got 10 hits against Severino, and most of them weren’t cheap.
Gunnar Henderson led off the game with an opposite-field homer to left, and after the right-hander escaped a 30-pitch second inning unscathed, Severino gave up three screaming hits to start the third.
Anthony Santander opened with a 111-mph single to right and scored on Ryan O’Hearn’s 100-mph double to left.
Cedric Mullins made it 3-0 with a 103-mph double to right.
Jordan Westburg then doubled down the left field line to drive in Mullins.
After Adam Frazier singled to center, the Yankee Stadium crowd booed Severino loudly as pitching coach Matt Blake visited the mound.
Severino whiffed Ramon Urias for the second out, but he was yanked after a Henderson RBI single and booed again as he walked off the mound.
He was replaced by Albert Abreu.
It was just the latest poor outing by the 29-year-old, whose ERA ballooned to an unsightly 7.38.
Severino is headed to free agency after the year, so his subpar performance is ill-timed, especially combined with the fact that he hasn’t pitched a full healthy season since 2018.
Since then, he’s thrown no more than 102 innings in a season.
